EXCHANGE

Explore. Exchange. Experience

The Japan Bound Exchange is the next step in developing our cultural awareness and cross-cultural communication skills. In this program our students will learn to share about themselves as well as engage with new ideas and concepts. These experiences will be helpful building blocks as our students take their next steps in their studies and eventually, their careers.

Program Overview

Program Outline:

  • Week 1: Foundation

  • Week 2: Observation

  • Week 3: Expression

  • Week 4: Collaboration

Thank you for joining us! Japan Bound Exchange was created to bridge the gap between students in Japan and the United States (and the rest of the world!). During this 4-week program, you will have the exciting opportunity to communicate with fellow students from other countries. Together, you will get to know each other and learn about new cultures, while discovering more about yourself in the process!

Foundation

Students build the foundation for the communication to follow in the next 3 weeks through self-introductions, personality tests and learning about your pod-mates perspectives

Observation

Observation is one of the first skills our students work on when developing their cross-cultural communication skills. Students should be curious and always asking questions to learn more about their pod-mates.

Expression

It's not enough to just listen and ask questions. In the 3rd week our students practice sharing about their own culture and in doing so reflect on what "culture" means to us.

Collaboration

The whole program builds towards the final week. Here, the students work together to produce a final presentation that they will share with all the pods.
